GRANBLUE FANTASY the Animation- Episode 4

A Helmsman’s Resolve

Our man Rackam is the first to grace our eyes and I’m not even mad We get a vision of him crashing his ship just as he crashes to the ground, he jolts awake. Our poor Rackam, nightmares suck. He stands up and walks to the window seeing Gran and the rest outside surrounded. We know from the last episode that Rackam was shooting from a distance to protect them. Continued in this episode, we see that he opens a hatch to another underground tunnel. Gran immediately knows that Rackam is the cause. The meet up while walking through the tunnel and Rackam brings them all back to his workshop. He tells them that he crashed, and even though he fixed the ship, it refuses to get off the ground. Unfortunately, Rackam says that he won’t fly another ship unless it’s the one outside. Which is a HUGE disappointment?  (Fanning over his face and hair. It’s great to look at.) So, either Rackam will get the ship to work or Gran is going to have another helmsman. Katalina thanks Rackam and says that’s they need to go tell the townspeople that the tiny General is trying to blow up the island. My questions are why? Why does the government want to blow up its own people? Sickening. I smell a revolution.

We cut to said Tiny General telling his soldiers that he should have helped him. Yeah no, they should have thrown him off the island. That’s bad to say, he doesn’t deserve the life he is living to be nothing but cruel. He did something to affect the weather, and I am guessing that is the weather god from the last episodes. I think I have learned that gods are actually dragons.

Back to the main group. They walk off and the weather is acting cray-cray. That’s when they meet the blue-haired boy and the pink-haired girl. It turns out that Katalina doesn’t know them after all, and the more things I get wrong the more interested I get. I usually have good intuition, but I love it when I have no idea what’s going on. The blue-haired boy is more joyous while the pink-haired girl is a buzz kill, but she’s just trying to do her job. They offer a way off the island again, and the group refuses. They start to right again, after the blue-haired boy says that he will bring them by force. Still, it doesn’t seem like they want to fight to hurt them. They fight a little and as they are making a final charge, a tornado pops up out of nowhere. They run away after Katalina asks them who they work with. Katalina and I both agree that they do not seem to be working for the Empire. We learn that Lyria can feel something wrong with the sky. I definitely think it’s a dragon now since she can control these beings.

The next scene we can see the injuries the weather have caused the people of the city. They need to leave the island. A man comes up to them and tells them that they have a ship, but they need someone to fly it. Rackam is shocked because he knows he only wants to fly one ship. Since no one else in the building knows how to, he knows he has to fly the ship. When they get there the tiny General blows it up. The General explains the island does have a goddess and that she is mad because the people have forgotten about her. They haven’t prayed to her and given her sacrificed. It is his fault that she believes this, he as twisted her ear. They run back to the safe house to tell everyone what happened. Lyria asks if there is another ship that could take her to talk to the goddess. This is when Rackam has the idea to fly his ship. He believes this was the day his ship was waiting for.

After his big long speech, which would be time-wasting in real life, starts up his ship, the Grandcypher. Now that the Grandcypher is up and functional, Rackam can join the group officially and man I can’t wait for that part of the adventure. We leave the episode with them in the sky peering at a huge thunderous storm.
